Email Phishing/Spam
Phishing emails
We have been getting a lot of Phishing/Spam emails I wanted to post a few examples of these emails so you can be on the lookout if or when you receive such emails.
Email storage
We do not send out notifications like this to let you know that your storage has exceeded its limits
If you hover your mouse over the Increase storage limit a web link should pop-up
Here you will see that the link is not a TED address
Voice mail
We do not send out Voice mail notifications from Office 365
Notice the TED email address this is nothing we have
Here is another example
Notice the email address .de is not in the US it is Germany
Also look at the word caller the C & A are capitalize this is an indication of scams
Always look for spelling and grammar errors
Here is a newer one that has been recently received by a few of our staff members
Even though we have a noreply@tedndt.com email address, this is not our Voicemail system
Here are a couple of legitimate examples you might receive
first examples of Voice mail emails you will receive from TED, these will come from Mitel/Shoretel
second example of a Voicemail from Microsoft Teams
Sharepoint
There have been a number of emails which appear to be from SharePoint.
Here are few examples of these emails, notice the email address in the first 3 they a closely similar but not the same, these are not a TEDNDT email address, none of ours are configured like this with numbers. There will not be TEDNDT in the main address of the email.
We do have a Sharepoint but it under Xrayindustries not TED
Here is another email from an outside source sharing a Document.
If you are not expecting a document from a trusted source, DO NOT Open the file.
Email the person to verify that they sent you a document, this instance the person’s email had been hacked and it was not a legitimate email.
Always be suspicious.
Fax Emails
Here is an example of a Fax email
Keep in mind we do not send faxes via emails we do send scans to emails, but they come through as PDF files
Password Change Email
A lot of people have been getting fake Password change request
Here is a fake request, please notice the email address this is not a Ted or IAG email address
There one that I have seen from office 365, Microsoft will not be sending you expired password notifications
Here is the only email that we will send out to notify you that your password is about to expire.
Notice that this will come from IAGIT, and there will be a signature block from the IT department with a phone extension
If you receive an email and you are not sure about it, forward it to us in IT and we can take a look at it and determine whether it is legitimate or phishing.
If it is a scam/phishing, in most cases we will be able to block the email address
Email Favor
Email asking for a favor from an executive in the company.
Notice the email address, this came from one of our executives and that is not his/her email address
Also look for grammar mistakes, this is a big Red Flag
